Meet Elvis - our 1979 Cabrio ...
Elvis was born in 1979 at the vw plant in Wolfsburg, Germany
and shipped to his new home in Los Angeles, California. This was the final
production year for the Karmann Beetle so this makes him even more special.
Being a US model he is left hand drive which is a novelty in itself and
gets lots of folks talking and he has been with us for over 16 years.
Last year we replaced the 1600 engine with a new one and earlier in the year we also fitted a new mohair hood in Mercedes brown and treated him to a new respray as well. As you can see, like our other two vdubs, he is a gorgeous shade of vw cream with a beautiful matching leather interior. The tyres and wheels are very close to the original equipment for this US luxury model and they make him stand out even more.
On the rear of the car you can see a chrome luggage carrier
and period suitcase. On arrival at your pick up this is just showing
the plain side and once you’re inside your wedding venue, tying the knot,
we turn the case around so the “Just married” lettering is
uppermost. We know from experience that photographers and couples love
this, as you can see from the photos!
All in all a pretty unique and stunning example of an iconic vehicle that just oozes character and is so different from other wedding cars.
